Boehner: Terry Family
Deserves Answers on ‘Fast & Furious’
June 21, 2012
“Our
son lost his life protecting this nation and it’s very disappointing
that we are now faced with an administration that seems more concerned
with protecting themselves rather than revealing the truth behind
operation ‘Fast and Furious.’” – Statement from the Family of Border
Agent Brian Terry
Speaker John Boehner read the above statement from the family of Brian
Terry when asked by a reporter about the “Fast and Furious”
investigation. Terry was a Marine veteran and US Border Patrol agent who
was murdered while on patrol near Rio Rico, AZ in 2010. According to the
House Oversight & Government Reform Committee, two “Fast and Furious”
guns were recovered at the murder scene.
“The American people deserve the truth about what happened in ‘Fast and
Furious’,” said Speaker Boehner. And “the Terry family deserves answers
about why their son was killed as a result of an operation run by the
United States government.”
The White House has unfortunately stonewalled the investigation into
“Fast and Furious” and Agent Terry’s death, and derided it as “political
theater.” Their actions have included providing (and then retracting)
false statements and withholding thousands of documents from Congress.
The House will vote next week to hold the Attorney General in contempt
of Congress for failing to fully cooperate, unless he produces the
requested documents prior to the scheduled vote.
