Susan C. Aldridge, UMUC:
CACI Partnership to Provide Cybersecurity Education
January 16, 2012
CACI
International has partnered with the University of Maryland University
College to provide undergraduate- and graduate-level cybersecurity
education to its workforce. Founded in 1947, UMUC is designated by the
National Security Agency and Department of Homeland Security as a
National Center for Academic Excellence in Information Assurance
Education.
The education alliance provides online courses for CACI employees to
take and pursue degrees and certificates in several cybersecurity-related
tracks, as well as any of UMUC's 120 academic programs. Employees can
use CACI's tuition reimbursement program to fund their enrollment. For
employees, dependents, and spouses who are not Maryland residents and do
not qualify for the university's in-state tuition rates, UMUC offers a
25 percent discount on out-of-state rates for many graduate and
undergraduate programs.
For CACI, which provides cybersecurity services and solutions to clients
in the federal government and the Intelligence Community, the courses
offer employees a unique opportunity to increase their skills and
enhance client support. The company also expects the educational
offerings to attract job candidates in the highly competitive job market
for cybersecurity professionals.
UMUC's
cybersecurity programs include a Bachelor of Science in cybersecurity;
graduate certificates in the Foundations of Cybersecurity, Cybersecurity
Policy, and Cybersecurity Technology; and Master of Science degrees in
cybersecurity, cybersecurity policy, and information assurance. Students
can take advantage of the advanced virtual security lab, which allows
them to combat simulated cyber attacks.
Dan Allen, CACI President of U.S. Operations, said, "CACI's partnership
with UMUC gives our employees an excellent opportunity to gain essential
skills in cybersecurity that will help them advance their careers. In
turn, they will be better equipped to help our clients address their
most critical challenges in countering evolving cyber threats to our
nation's security."
According to UMUC President Susan C. Aldridge, "Our partnership with
CACI is an ideal fit for UMUC's mission of offering top-quality programs
that fulfill the workforce needs of our state, nation, and world. We
look forward to providing CACI employees with cutting-edge training that
will help them grow their careers and provide high-value cybersecurity
solutions for CACI's clients." |
