May 2009: Top Malware Threats

The top ten most prevalent malware threats for the month of May 2009 are compiled from monthly scans performed by Sunbelt's antispyware tool, CounterSpy, and its anti-malware solution, VIPRE Antivirus + Antispyware, is a service of the Sunbelt Software Malware Research Labs.

The results represent the number of times a particular malware infection was detected during CounterSpy and VIPRE scans that report back to Sunbelt's community of opt-in users.

The top ten most prevalent spyware threats for the month of May are:

1. Trojan-Spy.Win32.Zbot.gen 6.34%

2. BehavesLike.Win32.Malware (v) 5.28%

3. Trojan-Downloader.Zlob.Media-Codec 2.48%

4. Trojan.1 2.45%

5. Virtumonde 2.11%

6. Trojan.DNSChanger.Gen 2.01%

7. Exploit.PDF-JS.Gen (v) 1.90%

8. Trojan.JS.Obfuscated.gen.a (v) 1.86%

9. INF.Autorun (v) 1.39%

10. Trojan-Downloader.Generic 1.31%
