Motorola Introduces New
Range of TETRA Solutions
27 May 2009
Motorola
has launched the Dimetra IP Micro TETRA switch and the CEP400 TETRA
portable terminal. These new products extend the reach of TETRA,
delivering cost effective and easy to deploy solutions to commercial and
enterprise users.
“We see a positive trend across regions for more and more commercial
customers adopting TETRA as their digital trunking solution due to its
affordability,” said Jens Kristiansen, vice president and general
manager, TETRA Global Products and Solutions, Motorola. “The launch of
these new solutions reaffirms our broad and expanding portfolio of TETRA
solutions that enable commercial and enterprise customers are able to do
their jobs effectively.”
The easy to deploy, Dimetra IP Micro solution builds on Motorola’s
Dimetra IP family of TETRA Solutions which deliver mission critical
benefits using state of the art trunked digital radio using the TETRA
standard. The solution supports features such as integrated voice and
data services and full duplex IP telephony calls – important to
commercial and enterprise users such as construction, manufacturing,
mining and transport, resorts and large hotels. The Dimetra IP Micro
also provides an interface to conventional analog systems making it
ideally suited for operators upgrading from analogue to advanced digital
solutions and require a smooth migration path.
Dimetra IP Micro uses the field proven MTS range of TETRA Base Stations
which deliver market leading performance and coverage. Radio sites are
linked to the Dimetra IP Micro using standard Ethernet interfaces which
means saving on the cost of leased lines and the remote access function
allows system monitoring and diagnostics to be done centrally which can
further reduce maintenance costs.
Motorola
has also announced the launch of the CEP400, a new feature-rich digital
two-way portable TETRA radio designed to help organisations, enhance
personnel safety and increase operational efficiency. The rugged, robust
and easy-to-use CEP400 offers users a cell phone style user interface
and gives mobile workers in tough and demanding environments amazing
loud and clear call clarity. This ensures they stay connected, informed
and productive even in challenging or high-risk environments.
Commercial customers with legacy analogue trunked radio systems are
starting to adopt digital technology in part due to government spectrum
regulations as well as economic considerations. TETRA solutions have
been perceived as expensive outside of the public sector but Motorola’s
solutions have been designed to be affordable and cost effective. |
