Novatel Wireless
Completes 4G LTE Data Transmission
February 08, 2010
Novatel
Wireless has successfully completed the first data transmission call
using Long Term Evolution (LTE) 4G technology. LTE provides high data
rates of up to 100Mbps on the uplink and 50 Mbps on the downlink and an
enhanced user experience by leveraging new, wider bandwidth spectrum.
Many operators are already planning to overlay LTE on their 3G networks
to augment data capacity. Novatel Wireless is working with operators and
plans to launch commercial data devices in late 2010.
"We are pleased to achieve
these important first data transmission milestones on next generation
technologies, last week with dual carrier HSPA+, and now with LTE, and
we expect to leverage our industry-leading position to offer 4G wireless
data products to our customers," said Dr. Slim Souissi, CTO, Novatel
Wireless. "We believe our aggressive development efforts will enable us
to deliver these innovative solutions with
the
fastest possible time to market."
Separately,
Novatel Wireless has begun the "How Do You MiFi?" contest available at:
www.novatelwireless.com/howdoyoumifi.
"Our customers around the world are using the MiFi Intelligent Mobile
Hotspot in many unique and interesting ways," said Rob Hadley, CMO,
Novatel Wireless. "We introduced the 'How Do You MiFi?' contest to
provide our customers with a place to share their personal success
stories with the MiFi platform, and have an opportunity to win a great
prize."
To enter, simply go to the Novatel Wireless website and click on the
"How Do You MiFi?" contest button at the bottom of the page. Visitors
will be asked to fill out a basic entry form outlining their personal
success story with the MiFi platform. Users with success stories chosen
to be featured on the Novatel Wireless website will be automatically
entered to win a 55" Samsung Flat Screen TV with a WiFi LinkStick, which
will be delivered to the winner in time for the start of March Madness (NCAA
Men's Basketball Tournament).
The MiFi Intelligent Mobile Hotspot represents a new category of mobile
broadband device. The device creates a portable, personal cloud of
high-speed Internet connectivity that can be shared between multiple
users and up to five Wi-Fi enabled devices. MiFi provides freedom from
Wi-Fi hotspots, allowing users to bring Internet access anywhere and
share that access with a set of Wi-Fi enabled devices.
The "How Do You MiFi?" submission page is officially open and will close
on February 12, 2010. The winning story will be announced on February
19, 2010, and the grand prize will be shipped on February 22, 2010. The
"How Do You MiFi?" contest is open to U.S. MiFi users only. |
