Systems (SIS) Offers AORN SYNTEGRITY Standardized Perioperative
Framework (SPF)
March 8, 2010
Surgical
Information Systems (SIS), the perioperative IT specialist, will offer
the AORN SYNTEGRITY Standardized Perioperative Framework (SPF) within
its nationally recognized suite of perioperative management solutions.
Developed by CSC and AORN, SYNTEGRITY,
in conjunction with SIS solutions, provides the content and
functionality necessary to maintain regulatory and AORN best practice
compliance. Through the use of a standardized framework with PNDS (Perioperative
Nursing Data Set), hospitals will be able to participate in nationalized
benchmarking offered through AORN.
AORN SYNTEGRITY guidelines ensure that documentation is aligned with
AORN recommendations. Incorporating these guidelines into the SIS
clinical solution reduces or eliminates the need for hospitals to create
custom processes. “SIS extends the opportunity to use the gold standard
of benchmarking by offering the AORN SYNTEGRITY framework as part of its
market leading solution,” said Deward Watts, president of CSC’s
Healthcare Group. “Combining AORN SYNTEGRITY framework with SIS
solutions arms hospitals with an added means to create efficiencies and
find enhancements in the perioperative setting.”
SYNTEGRITY helps solution providers like SIS streamline the capture of
critical patient data for perioperative care in hospitals, outpatient
facilities and ambulatory surgery centers. The framework enables health
practitioners to quickly identify and document patient care elements
across the continuum of perioperative care, including preadmission,
preoperative, intraoperative and postoperative phases. AORN SYNTEGRITY™
also includes data fields necessary for reporting relevant operational,
quality and regulatory information.
“SIS
and the AORN SYNTEGRITY framework enable a higher level of quality care
that can go beyond meeting federal requirements and provide a path to
improved outcomes and accurate reporting, no matter what future
regulations may mandate. We are delighted to see that SIS, already
recognized by AHA and HFMA, has decided to offer AORN SYNTEGRITY to its
clients and prospects as part if its solution,” said AORN executive
director Linda Groah, RN, MSN, CNOR, FAAN.
AORN SYNTEGRITY incorporates AORN’s standardized nursing vocabulary, the
Perioperative Nursing Data Set (PNDS), and aligns with clinical
standards, accreditation specifications and regulatory requirements to
promote ongoing compliance and consistent patient care. Data derived
from AORN SYNTEGRITY documentation can be used to support benchmarking
activities and will enable perioperative care practitioners to measure
outcomes and evaluate the quality and effectiveness of care.
“As the only specialty healthcare IT provider with integrated surgery
and anesthesia offerings, SIS is committed to excellence in the
perioperative space,” said Ed Daihl, SIS CEO. “Incorporating the AORN
SYNTEGRITY Standardized Perioperative Framework into the SIS Solution
enables the opportunity to leverage AORN’s data benchmarking. This kind
of comparative data review can help every perioperative department to
continue to improve the focus on patient quality.” |
