McAfee Surpasses 575K SaaS Customers

February 22, 2010

McAfee has surpassed 575,000 users of its portfolio of Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) offerings, including email and web protection, email continuity and archiving services, endpoint protection and vulnerability management. To mark the milestone, the company also released enhanced versions of its email and web solutions, including several new integration and performance updates.

“Along with the acquisition of MX Logic in July 2009, the customer milestone and new service releases demonstrate the commitment and enormous momentum McAfee has for its Security-as-a-Service business,” said Marc Olesen, senior vice president and general manager, McAfee Software-as-a-Service. “With the industry’s broadest portfolio of massively scalable and multi-tenant security solutions and our ability to let users choose between SaaS, on-premise or a combination of both, we simply believe that nobody can serve the dynamic security needs of customers better than McAfee.”

McAfee offers a range of SaaS-based security solutions comprised of email, web, email continuity, email archiving, endpoint protection and vulnerability management. With ten years of experience in providing Security-as-a-Service solutions, McAfee offers comprehensive protection and reliability. McAfee provides customers with a single vendor solution and frequent service upgrades.

McAfee SaaS solutions are upgraded frequently, providing users with the latest-and-greatest technology, features, and overall protection. These enhancements come at no additional cost to existing users, and require no manual updating or installation. In this latest release, email and web security service enhancements include:

  • Enforced TLS for SaaS Email Protection – Enforced Transport Layer Security (TLS) gives customers the option to force inbound and outbound delivery of mail via TLS for specified domains, proving even greater security.
  • Outlook 2003/2007 Integration for SaaS Email Archiving – A new downloadable Outlook 2003/2007 integration add-in will be available, enabling Message Archive administrators to more easily search for, view and save copies of archived messages directly through a Microsoft Outlook 2003 or 2007 email client.
  • Additional languages supported across all services – McAfee is doubling the number of supported languages for end-user pages from 9 to 18, including Chinese, Portuguese, Russian, Japanese and Turkish among others.

By integrating with real-time, cloud-based global threat intelligence, McAfee security SaaS products also provide increased visibility into both external and internal threats and vulnerabilities, protecting customers more efficiently and reducing both acquisition and operational costs. The complete McAfee security SaaS portfolio leverages the company’s large install base and impressive threat intelligence capabilities, providing customers with the most insightful and comprehensive view of the evolving threat landscape. With McAfee’s security SaaS offerings, the company delivers confidence in protection through a market leading and diverse portfolio of solutions.

“Since deploying Total Protection Service, a McAfee security-as-a-service offering we’ve essentially been able to set-and-forget message security and focus more of our IT resources on tasks that drive the business,” said Greg Ellison, Gilligan Oil. “McAfee-based solutions are extremely easy to use and never interfere with daily operations. We are reassured knowing that the services we use are always up to date, and continuously monitored by McAfee.”
